Top Websites That Will Save You Money

Gone are the days of sitting around sifting through catalogues, or driving around town to find the best price on a particular product. Now all you have to do is jump on the computer, smartphone or iPad and find out where to save money.

The Internet doesn’t just make it easier to do our shopping, it also helps us find where the bargains are. And the bargains could extend from buying Christmas presents to choosing a bank account or insurance plan.

Here are some of my top Aussie sites which can save you money.

www.choice.com.au

This is Australia’s leading consumer watchdog, and has a whole lot of information that you can use to make sure you’re getting a good deal. They test, review and compare all sorts of things from energy and water, to kitchen appliances, to cars, to credit cards.

For a small fee you can get access to their extensive database of research and product comparisons. It’s well worth the money.

www.canstar.com.au

It’s the one-stop-shop which tells you everything you need to know about bank accounts, credit cards, loans and insurance. People underestimate the power of searching for a better deal on these sorts of things, but if you compare the rates and find the best deal, it can save you a bundle.

www.superratings.com.au

Super Ratings is a great resource for finding out information about the huge amount of superannuation funds available to Aussies. It compares the finds, their rates of return and other details to help find the one that’s right for you.

www.ebay.com.au

When it comes to finding a bargain online, you can’t go past a site like Ebay. You’ll find just about anything under the sun here and since it’s an online bidding site, you’ll usually get whatever you’re looking for at a lower price than in the stores. And it’s not just second-hand junk people are throwing out. A lot of what is on Ebay is brand new.

www.gumtree.com.au

A similar idea to Ebay, but Gumtree is more like an online community notice board. You can even find stuff people are giving away for free! It’s like every garage sale in Australia brought into one place.

www.shopbot.com.au

This is a good price comparison site, which will list the places that a particular product is being sold and at what price. Similar to www.getprice.com.au

www.Skyscanner.com.au

There are plenty of sites which search for the cheapest flights, and this is one of the better ones, for both domestic and international flights.

www.catchoftheday.com.au

Everyday you can find great bargains on this site. Just be careful to not get sucked into buying everything you find purely because it’s a good price.

Best group buying site for me are deal aggregators. They ease the task of visiting deal sites one at a time.

Wanted to look at choice reviews, but balked at having to pay $2.00 per week, not really saving there!

Hey Kochie,
We love a good bargain so we have lots of deals on our site. But where we differ, is we experience some of the deals first hand and review them for consumers. We are rapt with the emails from consumers saying how much they appreciate the service. Feel free to check us out - http://grouped.com.au

Cheers!

Hi Kochie,

You might be interested in reviewing TopBargains in your future posts. TopBargains is the Australian version of American sites such as SlickDeals and Fat Wallet. Compared to other commercial sites, TopBargains is run as a social bargain sharing site where users have the power and any one can share a new bargain with others.

Thanks

My favourite site is grouped.com.au ... it has so many Australian daily deals that I'm on it so much I actually end up spending rather than saving
