The Melbourne Cup System

Something to keep in mind for next year’s Melbourne Cup.

My sports colleague on Sunrise, Mark Beretta, and I have been following a betting system for the Melbourne Cup over the last three years.

A maths professor had studied the Melbourne Cup history and found the best way to make money on the great race is to box-trifecta the entire field with odds of under 50-1.

He says you can only do it on the Melbourne Cup because the betting pool is so big and while a favourite always seems to get up, there is usually a roughie in there as well.

So we’ve put this system to the test although we’ve watered down the percentage we’ve bet otherwise it would cost thousands. Anyway, we won big the first year, we lost big last year (one of the lowest trifecta’s in history… just our luck) and this year we had our nose in front as well.
